How did you find CO+K and why did you join?
The site was recommended by Martha and Esme after I’d visited their home. Martha had just received a swap from Ale C in the summer of 2009.
The back story - I had moved to the US in Aug 2008 from Oxfordshire UK and was looking for a way to connect with people.
My professional background is as a pediatric nurse but I am not able to work currently in the US. I’m a volunteer guide (docent) at Bellevue Arts Museum .Swapping on CO+K gives me a place to share and be inspired.
What projects are you currently working on?
Critters
Books- just been asked to host a series of Altered book workshops
Vertical things
Strip quilts and some swaps.
I’m also trying to work on the business side of living a creative life for when that can become a reality. I also have a blog which I need to rework and write more often www.essexdebs.com

Favorite Craft
I just love being able to create. I like making things with layers and meaning sometimes this can be a group of supplies that become a book. Often these are emotions that become creatures.

Mandy Greer’s cowl making class would be amazing.
To make- I would really like to take the “Up” installation and make a public art piece that explores children’s rights- just need to write the “How to“ for that one.
Who are your crafting heroes?
Mandy Greer, Casey Curran (got me into altered books)
