What materials to make this dress out of?
Ok, so i am making this dress, here is a sketch of it since i am making the pattern and i couldnt find anything like it online dont know if you will be able to see the picture as my laptop being wierd.
But anyways the dress is a a white/cream maxi dress, with a flowing pleated skirt, and has a backless lace bodice with a halter top and blck rope trim. i am going to spray paint the skirt black ombre if that makes sense.
so i originaly wanted to do it in silk, but im only 13 and completly bank rupt so my dad is paying for the materials and yh... i then thought chiffon but my textile teacher told me it would be soooooooo difficult to work in chiffon and i need to finish it in about 4 months in time for the year fashion show.
So, I need you lovely people to suggest a good fabric for the skirt, cheaper than silk and easier than chiffon that flows. I also need some ideas as where to purchase the lace for the bodice, preferably online.
I can't see the picture? are you sure you put it online somewhere, because I see your path says 'localhost'...
You'll have to upload the photo in a new post.
I would not recommend using spray paint. Fabric spray paint is specially formulated to not affect the texture and movement of the fabric. Regular spray paint can dissolve some fabrics and make others hard.
Some woven cottons are nice for dresses and are relatively cheap. If you are looking to save money while shopping online, go to a site that gives out coupon codes regularly.
As an A level fashion student, my advise would be just to go along to your local fabric store and experience the fabrics in person. Feel them, see how they drape, ask the shopkeepers what they think and then get some samples to take back to your textile teacher.
